At Hotel Granvia, we care about the well-being of our guests and visitors, as well as that of the planet. Every day we work to help minimize environmental impact by promoting energy efficiency and offering services aligned with its protection.

We hold the certified Biosphere Sustainable Lifestyle seal, which reflects our commitment to sustainability and is promoted by Turisme de Barcelona, the Chamber of Commerce and the Barcelona City Council. We are also part of Barcelona+Sostenible, a network of more than 1,000 organizations committed to environmental, social and economic sustainability, collectively building a city that is responsible toward people and the environment. This commitment is aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change through the Global Sustainable Tourism Charter +20.

Hotel Granvia also holds the Ecostars Silver-3E*** seal, a hotel-specific certification that awards eco-stars based on the environmental impact per stay, and is recognized by international organizations such as the World Tourism Organization and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, as well as national bodies such as the Spanish Tourism Board.

In our day-to-day operations, we strive to raise awareness among our guests about the responsible use of resources, especially water and energy.

In our facilities we ensure high energy efficiency through ventilation heat-recovery systems; high-performance condensing boilers and water storage systems; and LED lighting throughout the hotel.

We promote a no paper philosophy by digitizing processes such as online check-in. We also work to encourage responsible use of resources such as water through faucet aerators and voluntary towel changes; and we reduce plastic use through soap dispensers in guest bathroom showers, promoting an equitable use of resources.

In our kitchen, we work toward the minimization and proper sorting of waste by category to help ensure its correct recovery or final use in collaboration with authorized waste managers and public administration services.

In addition, the building features a protected façade and protected architectural interior elements within Barcelona’s Eixample district. It began life as a bourgeois palace and was later converted into a hotel. In 2013, a full renovation was carried out, prioritizing sustainability criteria while preserving its historic character and architectural style.

At our hotel, we ensure the utmost care of our facilities and the safety of guests and employees, with both in-house and external maintenance technicians and experts; periodic checks, inspections, training sessions and drill exercises are carried out regularly.

We promote and uphold equality and diversity within our team, a key element of our service quality and best possible guest care. In 2023, we are launching monthly information campaigns to strengthen motivation and awareness among our teams regarding sustainability.

Our Corporate Sustainability Report includes the company’s 2030 SDGs and the reduction of our carbon footprint across the entire hotel chain from 2019 to 2022.
